The Film Corner Clubs 2026-2028. From virtual to real 

Staff of the Huston School of Film & Digital Media – Dr. Sean Crosson and Dr. Tony Tracy – are contributing to the Creative Europe funded project “The Film Corner Clubs 2026-2028. From virtual to real” 

This project builds on the success of the existing Film Corner film education online platform, established with Creative Europe funding between 2016 and 2025 and accessible at https://www.thefilmcorner.eu/  

The new project - The Film Corner Clubs 2026-2028 - is addressed to a very mixed target from children aged 8 until young people aged 29 and beyond, and envisages the creation, in each of the nine countries involved (Italy, Ireland, Poland, Czechia, Slovenia, Georgia, France, Portugal, and Bulgaria) of locally-based hubs (called “Clubs”) that will both be charged with implementing local on-site activities addressed to local target users in order to enhance their engagement in film and, additionally, will cooperate with the consortium partners and associated partners to implement a set of cross-national activities which are in common among all countries. 

Each Club will draw up an annual program of activities for 2 years including 2 types of activities: common cross-national activities, that are implemented  by all partners together, and local country-based activities, that are implemented autonomously by each partner at a local level, such as screenings of EU non-national arthouse films chosen from the project catalogue, on site activities and workshops related to The 

Film Corner platform formats and methodologies. The project activities strongly encourages user participation by adopting participatory methodologies focused on co-programming of cultural activities 

The widespread use of The Film Corner platform in various regions of the countries involved is included in the project as a common cross-national activity as an anchoring methodological reference 

University of Galway 

In collaboration with secondary schools in Ireland University of Galway will be developing a range of activities, including the delivery of online resources which will be made available to participating schools and targeted at the national context and relevant subjects, in particular the new Leaving Certificate subject Drama, Film, and Theatre Studies. Specific aspects  to be led by University of Galway will include: 

• The hosting of focus groups with leaving certificate teachers to explore their experiences delivering the new subject and to gather theiradviseon what resources (including within the Film Corner platform) would assist them in doing so. 
• Design,developmentand delivery of on-site learning workshops (including practical sessions on film and theatre making) in partner schools.  
• The hosting of workshops with teachers and students in conjunction with youth film festival Galway“Generation Fleadh”
• Preparation and publication of a co-authored publications on the rollout of the new subject inschoolsparticipating and experience gained from the project.
