2.00pm Broadcasting the Volvo Ocean Race: The Inmarsat Film Lecture

Inmarsat, the official technology sponsor for the 2008-09 Volvo Ocean Race, demonstrates how HDTV will change the sponsorship of international sailing events for ever.

With Inmarsat Fleetbroadband, the clarity of HDTV is about as close as you can get to the race action without being on a competing yacht. It's what the international broadcasters want and it's essential for raising the profile of the race and its sponsors globally. The 2008-09 race coming to Galway in May-June 2009 is the first in its 35-year history to have videographers onboard sending back high-definition television and rich multimedia content. Ian Walker, skipper of Green Dragon, will be joined by media crew members from PUMA (Rick Deppe) , ERICSSON 3 (Gustav Morin) and TELFONICA BLACK (Anton Paz) to talk about reporting the race to an estimated two billion followers.
